Summary
As the Assistant Director of Financial Operations, you will play a pivotal role managing the key financial operations of the University. Reporting directly to the Director of Finance, Estates and Commercial Services, you will take the lead on managing all University treasury and tax aspects as well as overseeing a team responsible for the day-to-day financial operations.
Key responsibilities include:
• Maintaining effective and efficient cash management for the University, ensuring funds are available to meet all obligations for the immediate and foreseeable future
• Taking the lead on all tax matters affecting the University, seeking expert and legal advice as and when applicable
• Direct line management of the Head of Financial Operations who leads a team in managing the delivery of efficient and effective transactional processing across the University, providing timely management information on key aspects of financial processing including treasury management, income collection processes, debtor reports and creditor payments.
• To support the Head of Financial Operations in providing strong scrutiny to ensure that operational activities are executed and delivered as per the policies of the organisation and complaint with external regulations.
• Play an important role in driving transformational and continuous improvement of financial transactions and practices across the University as well as involvement in university strategic initiatives whilst delivering outstanding customer service to our beneficiaries.
About you
We are seeking an ambitious and accomplished financial leader with a passion for collaboration and strategic impact. You will bring:
• A professional accounting qualification (e.g., ACCA, CIMA, ACA) and significant post-qualification experience.
• Proven experience in significant cash management
• Proven experience and understanding of all current national and international tax legislation impacting the Higher Education sector
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to translate complex financial data into actionable insights.
• Excellent leadership and team management abilities to inspire and develop your team.
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with a track record of building successful stakeholder relationships.
