When you ring 999 your call goes through to one of our two Emergency Operations Centres (EOCs). That call often then needs someone to send the appropriate response and decide what operational resources should be sent to emergency incidents.:
We need individuals who have the drive and passion to make a difference to people’s lives, but also the personal resilience to work in a high-pressured environment.
Successful candidates will be able to work well within a team, have fast/accurate typing skills and a good standard of education. This role is suited to people who remain calm under pressure, are good at problem solving and have excellent interpersonal skills, with an empathetic nature.

Successful candidates must be able to prioritise tasks, manage conflicting demands around time and resources; and problem solve to deliver objectives.
• Will vary responsibilities in accordance with the requirements set out by the Dispatch Team Leader or Emergency Operations Centre Manager.
• Effectively manage the deployment and allocation of the full range of resources in line with agreed dispatch deployment policies for the purposes of achieving locally and nationally agreed performance standards.
• Will communicate via phone and radio systems to field operational resources, external agencies and the public.
• Must be able to negotiate and persuade to achieve co-operation and agreement with EOC staff, field operational staff and external agencies.
• Information passed is likely to be highly sensitive and, in some cases, highly distressing (dealing with traumatic circumstances including murders, suicides, child death, major incidents, business continuity incidents etc).
• Ensuring crews are booked on and off duty on the CAD as required.
• Will be required to dispatch one or multiple dispatch desks on shift as instructed by the Dispatch Team Leader or above.
• Will be the primary contact point for resourcing, allocation and deployment for all resources in the dispatch desk(s) that the Resource Dispatcher is covering.
• Appropriately manage, or escalate if required, welfare, response, allocation or other resourcing or staffing issues to the Dispatch Team Leader or above.
Base: Crawley HQ
Hours: Full-time 37.5 hours per week Core Rota

Training programme:
• 7 days full time (7.5 hours per day unless otherwise stated)
• Plus 15 mentoring shifts over a 10-week period various shifts
• Has a ‘must’ attend policy, with no annual leave being permitted during this period.
• Comprises of classroom and observing and mentoring periods within the working environment.
• Is designed to fully support full transition to Resource Dispatcher independently.

• WK1 - -Weds to Sat - 06.30 - 18.30
• Wk. 2 - Thurs and Sun - 2 Early's & 2 Night Shifts
• WK 3 –Fri to Mon - 2 Days & 2 Night Shifts
• Wk. 4 - Sat - Tues - 2 Days & 2 Night Shifts
• Wk. 5 -Sun - Weds - 2 Days & 2 Night Shifts
• Wk. 6 - Mon - Thurs - 2 Days & 2 Nights Shifts
• Wk. 7 - Tues - Fri - 2 Days & 2 Night Shifts
• WK. 8 - Mon only Training 8 Hrs Rest for the rest of Week
Management of the full range of resources in line with agreed deployment policies for the purpose of achieving locally and nationally agreed performance standards.
Advises the Dispatch Team Leader (DTL) on resource availability and lost unit hours which impact on patient care and unit hour utilisation.
Updates and maintains such information systems as are required to ensure accurate reporting of clinical information & performance standards.
Maintain accurate and detailed records to assist with retrospective investigation of complaints and clinical incidents. Responsibility for appropriate deployment and directing of all operational resources and personnel, by the analysis of given information ensuring that the nearest most suitable resource is dispatched in order to achieve standards.
