Summary
Primary Duties and Areas of ResponsibilitiesPatients Process appointment requests via telephone, in person, and online Receive patients and direct them to the appropriate surgeries Handle visit requests from patients Register new patients and temporary residents Process patient change of address requests Manage repeat prescription requests in line with practice guidelines Accept and dispatch specimens to hospitals Maintain a full understanding of the appointment system Understand and manage telephone systems, both daytime and out of hours Enter and record information in the computer system as per practice procedures Take messages and pass on relevant informationWorkflow Tasks (to be completed within agreed timescales) Scan medical information into patient records Allocate workflow tasks to doctors Process out-of-hours information received electronically Update records when a patient is deceased Process online prescription requests Handle hospital discharge letters Process scanned workflow documents from doctors Manage patient deductions Process administrative tasks Conduct QOF recallsMedical Records Ensure patient records are kept neat, tidy, and in good condition Update patient details (e.g., address, phone numbers) in their medical records Document all patient interactions in the computerized medical record systemReception Upon opening, check that doctors' rooms, waiting areas, and reception are clean, tidy, and properly ventilated Assist in organizing patient appointments and facilitating the flow of information between staff, patients, and healthcare providers Ensure surgeries are stocked with necessary stationery and equipment for doctors Receive and exchange routine information with clinicians, healthcare providers, staff, patients, and external agencies
