Summary

A Vacancy at St George's University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

• The post holder will work as part of a team providing radiation protection advice and support to St. George’s University Hospitals NHS Trust and other healthcare sites across the UK to ensure the radiation safety of patients, visitors and staff. The post holder’s primary role is to ensure that X-ray equipment is tested in accordance with current standards and operating optimally.
• There will also be a strong commitment to work with external clients on optimisation projects and provide hands on support for a wide range of radiation protection issues.

To carry out routine radiation safety tests of X-ray equipment including general radiology, fluoroscopy, mammography, dental and CT. Additional training can be provided where required.



To assist the lead RPA and MPE with the following services:


• Assessing patient radiation doses for radiological procedures
• Provision of radiation protection specifications for new radiological imaging facilities
• Radiation shielding assessment
• Investigation of radiation incidents and the provision of incident reports
• Assistance with optimisation

The Radiological Protection Centre (RPC) at St George's University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust acts as Radiation Protection Adviser (RPA), Radioactive Waste Adviser (RWA), Medical Physics Expert (MPE) to healthcare organisations around the UK. It has about 16 staff and has been established as one of the leading providers in the sector since 1985. Staff have the opportunity to travel extensively and visit some of the best parts of the country.
