Summary

Step Teachers are seeking a SEN Teaching Assistant located in Islington commencing in February 2025. This full-time position is for 1 Term initially, with potential extension based on performance and school discretion.

This is a nurturing and inclusive school dedicated to providing a supportive and caring learning environment for all our students. They also boast an overall outstanding rating from Ofsted.

Your duties as a SEN Teaching Assistant:

  • Support students with SEN on a 1:1 or small group basis to help them access the curriculum.
  • Adapt learning materials and teaching methods to meet the individual needs of students.
  • Assist the class teacher in creating and implementing individual education plans (IEPs).
  • Monitor and record student progress, providing feedback and input to teachers and parents.
  • Support students with personal care, mobility, and communication as required.
  • Encourage positive behavior and social interaction within the classroom and on the playground.
  • Collaborate with other staff members, including SENCOs, to ensure the best outcomes for students.
  • Promote independence and confidence in students while ensuring they feel supported.

To be considered for this SEN Teaching Assistant position, you will:

  • Experience working with children, preferably in a SEN environment.
  • A Level 2 or 3 qualification in Childcare, SEN, or a related field (or equivalent).
  • A passion for working with children with SEN and supporting their development.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents as an SEN Teaching Assistant
  • Patience, empathy, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
  • A commitment to the safeguarding and welfare of children.
