The successful candidate will join us in our established multidisciplinary team, working alongside colleagues in both health and social care. This is a community based team in Haringey, and you will visit service users in their homes, day centres, colleges and workplace. You will hold a caseload of adults with learning disabilities, providing specialist assessment and intervention, to support service users to achieve their maximum level of functional independence and participation in meaningful occupations. You will contribute to OT/learning disability team service developments, support and educate the therapy assistant and OT students, and deputise for the Lead OT when required.
Excellent support systems are in place including supervision and MDT working. There is also access to a wider clinical network within the North London Mental Health Partnership
· To work as an integral member of the multidisciplinary team, Haringey Learning Disabilities Partnership
• To provide specialist Occupational Therapy assessment and interventions for people with learning disabilities and complex needs, in a variety of community settings
· Provide education, advice and training to families, staff and services about appropriate treatment approaches, development of programmes and adaptive equipment for clients.
· Maintain clinical records, according to policy and guidelines, and follow O.T. local and national guidelines and policies which relate to the profession and field of work
• To communicate effectively with service users and their support networks, acknowledging and actively overcoming barriers to understanding
• To support and deputise for the lead OT when required, including involvement in data collection and audits, and engaging in service development initiatives

In order to meet the needs of the Trust you may be required from time to time to work at different locations to your normal place of work. This may mean that you are required to work at any location that fall under Barnet, Camden, Enfield, Haringey or Islington. The Trust reserves the right to require staff to work at such other places or locations as it considers reasonable and necessary on a temporary or permanent basis.
• Responsible for providing Occupational Therapy functional assessments, and formulating and implementing treatment plans for an allocated caseload of service users.
· Provide Occupational Therapy for people with learning disabilities and complex needs using knowledge and skills gained through post graduate training, for example sensory, autism, mental health and PMLD.
· Carry out Comprehensive Care Act Eligibility Assessments of service users newly referred to the Combined Learning Disabilities Team
· Attend the multi-disciplinary team meetings, contribute professional knowledge to clinical discussion of complex cases.
· Provide specialist advice and training to families, staff and services about appropriate treatment approaches, development programmes and adaptive equipment for clients.
· Initiate, plan and run specialist O.T. treatment groups/projects for service users when indicated.
· Provide the O.T. service in a variety of locations, including clients’ homes, day centres, colleges and the community.
