Summary
This is an outstanding opportunity to join the Diversity of GI services at UCLH as a research fellow to undertake an MPhil at UCL with a goal to proceed to PhD.
Our research group lies within the UCL Division of Surgery and interventional Science and is led by Prof. Richard Cohen in collaboration with Prof. Marilena Loizidou and Professor Lucie Clapp. Our research has focused on the role of epigenetic modifications in the intestinal immune response in health, IBD and colorectal cancer.
This research post will provide a unique training opportunity to join a flourishing research laboratory with a strong publication record and a supportive team.
The clinical opportunities in the department will allow the candidate to further their experience in inflammatory bowel disease, clinical trials and endoscopy in a leading tertiary IBD centre.
The post holders time will be divided between clinical duties at UCLH and protected laboratory time at the Rayne Institute. The research fellow will register for an MPhil degree at UCL with anticipated upgrade to a PhD subject to funding and satisfactory research and clinical progress.
The post holder will also provide out-of-hours cover for the GI on-call rota. This includes emergency endoscopy supported by a consultant, advice and weekend ward rounds, 1 in 11 shifts with internal cover. JAG accreditation in diagnostic gastroscopy is essential for this role.
