Summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced, enthusiastic senior clinical pharmacist to join the cardiac team at Barts Heart Centre, part of Barts Health NHS Trust. This is an exceptional career opportunity for a high calibre pharmacist with vision, excellent organisation and leadership skills looking to develop their career, both clinically and professionally.
The post holder will work closely with medical and nursing staff to ensure the continued provision and development of high quality, comprehensive clinical pharmacy services to patients, influencing change at a divisional level, as well as providing leadership and managerial support for junior pharmacy team members. Contribution to the research agenda working with staff across the pharmacy department and supervising student placements will also be integral to this role.
The post provides flexible and challenging opportunities for personal and professional development. The successful applicant will be expected to be a team player with excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Significant clinical experience in the management of level 2 and 3 critical care patients is essential, as well as experience in cardiac services, along with a clear vision of the future of clinical pharmacy within the specialty.
To lead the clinical pharmacy service to the Critical Care directorate within St Bartholomew’s hospital in providing responsible, safe and cost-effective prescribing in order to;
- Optimise patient outcomes
- Minimise adverse reactions
- Improve medicines safety
The post also helps to deliver the broader Medicines Optimisation and Governance strategy across the Trust. These outcomes will be achieved primarily through leadership of the clinical pharmacy team, and the development and implementation of guidelines and policies to encourage best practice.
