Help transform lives like M’s.
The Kelvin Project is based in Kirkintilloch. At Kelvin staff support unaccompanied asylum seekers age 16-25. Staff work as part of a multi-disciplinary team which involves supporting people with their asylum claim, referrals to various agencies, enrolment to school / college and much more. Often the people we support require someone who can support them through the night if needed.
My name is M. I'm 16 years old. When I arrived in Glasgow, I was accommodated in Kelvin. I had a very tough journey getting to the UK, my family still live in my hometown and in danger to the ongoing war. Staff at Kelvin are supporting me to live independently, teaching me how to keep my personal space tidy, help with managing money and buying food.
I enjoy all sports and love playing as part of a team. In Kelvin I play dominoes and staff help me with my homework.
Sometimes, the memories of back home can give me sleep tremors. That's why having supportive people around is crucial. It's important that they understand my journey and offer non-judgmental support, with their help, I believe my future is looking very bright.
