Summary


To join the 18 RTT Team as an18 Week Referral to Treatment (RTT) Validation Officer within the Information Services department, responsible for the comprehensive validation of inpatient and outpatient pathways in support of the RTT waiting times and maintenance of data quality.

The role involves the detailed validation of patient care pathways in line with the national waiting times policy and the national 18-week guidelines.

The successful applicant must be able to work under pressure dealing with high volumes of data validation ensuring that all relevant data is accurately recorded and updated on the Trust Patient Admin System. You will be required to work independently but part of a team to prioritise workloads in support of weekly and monthly reporting deadlines always maintaining confidentiality.

You will be responsible in monitoring data quality and liaising with departments on data quality issues and where appropriate provide support and guidance in the development and implementation of education and training programmes to ensure the successful delivery of the service and prevent issues reoccurring.

It is essential that applicants are educated to GCSE levels A-C in Mathematics and English or equivalent with experience of operating IT systems including Microsoft Office, Emails and/or other dedicated software.

Experience or knowledge of the RTT Pathway and Government waiting times would be an advantage.



The current post is located in the Information Services department working in a small team of 5 as RTT Validation Officer forming part of the wider service of Information Services.

The post holder will be responsible for the comprehensive validation of inpatient and outpatient pathways in support of the Referral To Treatment (RTT) waiting times in accordance with Department of Health RTT guidelines.

To extract, analyse and interpret clinical information from case notes and other relevant sources using in depth knowledge of medical pathways to assess 18-week date compliance.

·To ensure all patients on an 18-week pathway have accurate and appropriate clock start and pathway information.

·Act as first point of contact for external queries for all 18-week patient pathway information.

·Ensure audit data is collected at referral, liaise with relevant staff to resolve any data quality problems to ensure 18-week data compliance is accurately recorded for all patients on an active 18-week pathway, at regular intervals

·To escalate 18-week breaches and ensure that this information is accurately documented·Assist with routine data quality checks according to the Information Services team needs.

·Assist in maintaining routine procedures to monitor and improve 18-week data collection.

·To support staff in their understanding and application of the 18-week pathway.

·Any other duties/ responsibilities as delegated by the manager as deemed appropriate to the role
