Are you a passionate and skilled chef looking for a rewarding opportunity to make a difference in the lives of seniors? Join our team at Jewish Care as a Head Chef for our residential care home, in Ilford.

We are seeking a culinary professional who is committed to delivering high-quality, nutritious, and delicious meals to our residents.

This post is working 40 hours per week, 5 out of 7 days including 1 in 3 weekends. Shifts are from 7am to 3.30pm or 10 am to 6.30pm with occasional evenings for events.

As the Head Chef, you will be responsible for:
  • Menu Planning and Development: Create well-balanced and appetising menus that meet the nutritional needs of seniors while considering dietary restrictions and preferences.
  • Food Preparation and Presentation: Oversee the preparation and presentation of meals with a focus on quality, flavour, and visual appeal. Ensure that meals are served at the right temperature and in a timely manner.
  • Kitchen Management: Efficiently manage the kitchen operations, including inventory control, ordering supplies, and maintaining a clean and organised kitchen environment.
  • Team Leadership: Lead and motivate kitchen staff, fostering a positive and collaborative work environment. Provide guidance, training, and support to ensure the team delivers exceptional service.
  • Adherence to Regulations: Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, food safety standards, and any other relevant guidelines.
  • Customer Satisfaction: Solicit and incorporate resident feedback to continuously improve the dining experience. Strive for high levels of resident satisfaction through excellent food and service.
What you will need:
  • Proven experience as a Head Chef or Executive Chef in a similar setting.
  • Culinary degree or equivalent certification.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of nutrition and dietary requirements for seniors.
  • Ability to create innovative and appealing menus.
  • Familiarity with kitchen management software and inventory control.
  • Understanding of health and safety regulations in a kitchen environment.
