Summary
KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY: Phlebotomy/butterfly blood sampling Simple Dressings ECGs Blood pressure monitoring & 24 hour B/p monitoring Urine testing/Sample collection/Preparation of specimens ready for collection Peak Flow recording Height/Weight/BMI recording Assist in medical emergencies e.g. CPR Computer information input Assisting nurses / doctors with complex procedures Provide advice and support to patients and carers where appropriate and within own levels of competence Ensure clinical waste is placed for collection Stock Control Restock cupboards/ordering stock Maintain supplies in Consulting and Treatment rooms Attend and participate in Nursing and Clinical team meetings Attend appropriate training and updates Complete HCA Core Competency training Adopt a flexible attitude to take account of changes within the service EXTENDED ROLES Diabetic foot checks Smoking Cessation Advice Influenza, Pneumococcal & Shingles vaccinations B12 injections Long Term Conditions initial assessment Compression bandaging Doppler assessment Spirometry NHS Healthchecks
