Are you passionate about supporting Autistic children and young people and/ or those with speech, language and communication needs to meet their potential? Located within reach of the Kent countryside and central London, the post attracts outer London weighting pay.

As part of the team you will provide assessment, advice and interventions for children with language disorder, social communication differences and Autism . Your role includes working with children and young people to support and provide the universal, targeted and specialist provision including delivery of Education, Health and Care Plan provision.

You will see children in clinics, mainstream schools and Specialist Resourced Provisions for ASD.

You will have opportunity to regularly interact with other members of the team, access administrative, managerial and clinical support, with regular clinical supervision every 6 weeks. Training and career development is well supported within Oxleas with the opportunity to attend both internal and external training. Examples of training recently accessed include Zones of Regulation, Intensive Interaction, Attention Autism. In addition to this, clinical forums are regularly organised internally on topics of interest to the team.

We are looking for a therapist with experience of working with children with social communication differences and Autism. You will have at least 18 months’ experience as a qualified Speech and Language Therapist. There are plenty of opportunities for professional development and support of a friendly team of therapists and assistants.

Oxleas offers a wide range of NHS healthcare services to people in community and secure environment settings. Our services include community health care such as district nursing and speech and language therapy, care for people with learning disabilities and mental health care such as psychiatry, nursing and therapies. Our multidisciplinary teams look after people of all ages and we work in close partnership with other parts of the NHS, local councils and the voluntary sector and through our new provider collaboratives. Our 4,300 members of staff work in many different settings including hospitals, clinics, prisons, secure hospitals, children’s centres, schools and people’s homes.

We have over 125 sites in a variety of locations in the South of England. In London we operate within the Boroughs of Bexley, Bromley Greenwich and into Kent. We manage hospital sites including Queen Mary’s Hospital, Sidcup and Memorial Hospital, Woolwich, as well as the Bracton Centre, our medium secure unit for people with mental health needs. We are the largest NHS provider of prison health services providing healthcare to prisons within Devon, Dorset, Bristol, Wiltshire and Gloucestershire, Kent and South London. The Bexley Children’s Speech and Language Therapy service offers a range of services with specialist teams across EYs, ASD, Deafness, Stammering, Specialist Resourced Provisions and SEMH. We work closely across teams to provide clinical support and second opinions.

This post is part of the Children’s Specialist Services and offers close working with Community Paediatricians and the Autism assessment service, Occupational therapy, Portage, Educational Psychology, Autism Advisory Service and CAMHS.
