We are looking for an enthusiastic self-starter at the very beginning of their career who is interested in learning about governance, strategy, leadership and how organisations work.
A career at GGI is as varied as it is fulfilling. You’ll work with some fascinating organisations doing truly amazing things. You can expect a competitive package, flexible working, good prospects for development and a genuine opportunity to make a difference.
The role
This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to a wide range of client-facing projects and develop within a strong team-based environment in a specialist consultancy providing strategy, leadership and governance guidance to organisations in the public and third sectors.
The project support intern role is a flexible role offering a great opportunity for someone at the beginning of their career to get a start in the consultancy sector. This position would suit someone without any experience seeking to develop their skills within a fast-paced, consulting organisation.
This role is an initial six-month paid internship, with a guaranteed interview for a junior consultant role at the end of this period. GGI has a good track record of supporting professional development and further qualifications.
This is primarily a remote role, although some occasional UK travel will be required for client work.
Job profile
As a project support intern, you will work within project teams to support the delivery of reviews and improvement programmes to a wide variety of client organisations.
You will begin with mainly administrative tasks, to help you understand what GGI does and how we work. You will be supported to develop project management skills through on-the-job learning, and we would expect you to quick become responsible for supporting projects independently from conception to completion. This includes creating detailed project plans, regular client liaison, monitoring budgets and regular updates of our client relationship management system.
You may also be expected to produce draft client-facing materials, such as PowerPoint presentations, draft reports and briefing papers.
Other responsibilities include elements of corporate responsibility, for example:
Market analysis and business development, including background research and data entry
Contributing to knowledge management materials, such as blogs and articles.
Skills and attributes
Highly IT proficient, especially using Microsoft 365 and work effectively using Zoom and Microsoft Teams (essential)
Strong organisational skills (essential)
Strong creative thinking skills (essential)
Excellent written and verbal communication skills (essential)
A confident communicator, with all levels of staff, external contacts and suppliers (essential)
Ability to identify priorities as they change and manage multiple projects simultaneously (essential)
Attention to detail (essential)
Strong customer service skills (essential)
Ability to work independently and as part of a team (essential)
A degree in any discipline (desirable – we are more interested in your potential than your education)
Knowledge of the fundamental concepts of governance, UK current affairs, and/or understanding of the health and social care, charity or education sectors (desirable)
Due to the nature of this role, you must be able to work some unsociable hours during event periods.
This opportunity is open to those with the right to live and work in the UK.
Salary and benefits
£26,000 (per annum)
Flexible home working, including equipment
Membership to work.life office spaces (in London, Reading and Manchester)
Unlimited annual leave allowance
Health and wellbeing allowance
A guaranteed interview for a junior consultant role after six months
