Summary
This is an exciting time to join DBTs Agriculture, Food & Drink Team who champion the UK’s highly innovative and hugely successful £146.7bn GVA agriculture, food and drink industries, which encompasses the UK’s largest manufacturing sector.
The work of our team focuses on attracting high value foreign direct investment (FDI), helping businesses to achieve their export ambitions as well as unblocking barriers that constrain international and domestic growth in the UK’s agriculture, food & drink sector.
We are seeking a talented and enthusiastic candidate with the passion and ability to make a real difference to our work and team culture. Our ideal candidate will be excited by the opportunity to develop the sector’s foreign direct investment strategy and unlock barriers to growth for the benefit of UK consumers and businesses.
As Deputy Sector Lead for Food & Drink Investment, your role will involve collaborating with stakeholders important to investment to help drive growth in the Food & Drink sector. This includes DBTs overseas Post network, UK based internal teams as well as the Devolved Administrations. You will also work directly with prospective and existing foreign investors to help promote and provide sector expertise to support their UK expansion, whilst addressing any barriers to growth.
The successful candidate will focus on the following areas:
- Providing support and sector expertise for prospective and existing investment projects in the Food & Drink FDI pipeline.
- Leading strategic initiatives to drive targeted lead generation in the sector, including commissioning analysis with external research providers.
- Coordinating responses to correspondence and drafting Ministerial briefings.
- Ensuring the team gathers and tracks business intelligence on the UK policy and business environment.
- Raising and helping to solve business constraints, working with teams across DBT and advocating for the Food & Drink sector to other government. departments.
- Maintaining the investment team’s relationships with our overseas Post networks, including supporting the delivery of bespoke in-market investor events, webinars and UK based upskilling sessions.
- Building and sustaining strong relationships with trade associations, major businesses in the sector and within key government departments/ and at cross departmental networks, including Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, Department of Health and Social Care and the Food Standards Agency.
- Driving the development of sector collateral to promote the most investible opportunities in UK Food & Drink.
- Keeping abreast of industry innovation and investment opportunities and reflecting these in their teams’ direction throughout the year.
