This is an exciting opportunity to join Team Caerphilly and provide support across the wider Social Services Fostering Team.
We pay an attractive salary of £37,938 - £40,476 and offer access to training and development opportunities.
The successful candidate will need excellent assessment and analysis skills and the ability to engage and communicate effectively with Foster Carers their families and children who are looked after. You will focus on wellbeing, safety of children and be able to support and guide Foster Carers to build on their holistic skills as well as a commitment to improve outcomes for children and young people.
The Team has responsibility for recruiting, assessing, supporting, supervising and reviewing general foster carers, alongside completing Connected Persons Assessments of family members/connected persons for a child who cannot, or may not be able to remain with their birth family.
The Fostering Team duties and responsibilities have been separated, those workers who take responsibility for supporting, supervising and reviewing current and newly approved foster carers and the other half of the team take responsibility for recruiting and assessing general foster carers alongside completing Connected Persons Assessments.
The postholder will need to have at least 2 years’ experience of Social Work with children and young people and be registered as a Social Worker with Social Care Wales. Have good communication and IT Skills.
For the role, we ask that you have:
A Diploma/Degree in Social Work or predecessor. Social Workers qualifying after 1 April 2016 are required to complete the Consolidation of Practice qualification within the first three years of practice.
Up to date knowledge of current legislation Research and Practice issues in childcare.
Excellent communication skills with children, young people, their families/carers and professionals.
A full UK Category B (Cars) driving licence and the use of a motor vehicle insured for business purposes to travel throughout the borough to attend meetings.
