Summary

We are recruiting a Trading Standards Officer at Caerphilly County Borough Council.

Working hours: 37 Hours (7.24 Monday – Friday)
Contract Type: Permanent/Full Time
Location: Ty Penallta / Working hours can be split between home and office depending on specific task requirements.

This is an exciting opportunity to join Team Caerphilly and provide support across the wider Commercial Practices Team.

We pay an attractive salary of £41,511 - £44,711 and offer access to training and development opportunities.

Applications are sought for an enthusiastic, highly motivated and diligent Trading Standards Officer in the Council’s Trading Standards Service.



The Commercial Practices Team are responsible for all aspects of Metrology, Food Standards, Product Safety and Animal Health and Welfare (including enforcement of the licensing provisions relating to animals). You will hold the Trading Standards professional qualification (DTS, DCATS or The Trading Standards Practitioner Diploma and must include both Food Standards and Metrology.



The successful candidate will be expected to enforce all Acts of Parliament, Byelaws, Orders, Rules and Regulations assigned to the service, both during and outside normal working hours. You will also Respond to complaints and provide advice and assistance to businesses and the general public.



The postholder will undertake any specialist duties or lead role as directed and represent the Directorate on appropriate groups or Committees, you will work in partnership with other council departments and external agencies.



For the role, we ask that you have:

Knowledge of Trading Standards functions and associated legislation.
The ability to prepare reports, manage and prioritise workloads and be able to work as part of a team.
A full UK Category B (Cars) driving licence and the use of a motor vehicle insured for business / work purposes to travel throughout the borough to attend emergency incidents and transport relevant equipment.
