Crynodeb
The post-holder will be responsible for coding inpatient episodes as part of a coding team on a daily basis. They will be responsible for entering ICD-10 and OPCS-4 codes on to the trusts EPR System. To this end, they should have a high level of knowledge regarding; anatomy / physiology, national / local clinical standards and also local systems that relate to the Clinical Coding process, to ensure they provide a high quality coding service. Performing Clinical Coding will require the post holder to make analytical judgements regarding complex patient documentation and to ensure they assign codes that conform to complex national and local standards. They will be required to help ensure the department meets all coding deadlines and that they help support all initiatives within the Coding department. As part of a Clinical Coding team, they will be required to manage their own work-load. They will report directly to the team lead for their team and will inform them of any issues that arise.
