Summary

What skills and experience we're looking for

We want to hear from you if you are a committed, proactive and flexible Behaviour Support Worker, Learning Support Mentor or SEN Teaching Assistant who could make a difference to pupils’ lives and their experience of education, especially those who have become disengaged. We have vacancies in both Key Stage 3 or Key Stage 4 at our secondary Alternative Provision in Slough and in our Millside School SEMH Specialist School, assisting pupils in overcoming barriers to learning.

Haybrook College educates young people aged 11 to 16 who have challenging and complex Social, Emotional, and Mental Health difficulties (SEMH) or medical needs. We have multiple provisions providing bespoke, child-centred and high quality education programmes, which aim to ensure that all the students individual educational needs are met. We offer provision for a range of students across KS3 to KS4, as a result of SEND, Managed Moves, Permanent Exclusions or out of area placements.

Our ideal candidate will:

• Have experience working with either small groups or 1:1 with students who may have complex social and emotional difficulties, may demonstrate challenging behaviour or who may have Special Educational Needs. This may be as a mentor, teaching assistant, youth worker or other support role.
• Be able to mentor students with a confident and positive approach to motivate and engage them in their learning.
• Be able to remain calm in challenging circumstances, providing a safe and positive learning environment and de-escalating any threatening or aggressive behaviour.
