Summary

The fellow will gain ample experience in performing Robotic prostatectomies, cystectomies, RPLNDs renal cases, hysterectomies, lymphadenectomies, radical hysterectomies, exenterative and reconstructive pelvic surgery, synchronous liver and colorectal resections, reconstructive among other procedures. The fellow will be allowed to develop his or her area of interest. Fellows will also have the opportunity to work with other faculty members in the Departments of Gynaecologic Oncology, Urology, and Department of Colorectal Surgery. The fellow will actively participate in the surgical management of patients on the Robotic Surgery Service, and collaborate with other members in the perioperative management of Robotic surgical patients. The fellow will have access to the Robotic surgery simulator onsite, to further complement their educational experience. The fellow will also become very familiar with the DaVinci robot operating room setup, docking techniques, instruments, and troubleshooting approaches. Fellows will have protected time for research, and have abundant research opportunities and mentorship. The fellow should expect to publish 2-3 publications by the end of the year, with emphasis on robotic surgery. The fellow will have the opportunity to attend and present his/her research at national and international meetings. In addition to the technical aspects, the successful candidates will manage all aspects of complicated patients and actively partake in the MDT as appropriate. There is also an expectation that the post holder participate in discussions with the Consultant group about performance, clinical system improvements, patient safety, education and training as well as day to day management issues.
