Summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the elective Orthopaedic nursing team as a Deputy Ward Manger, this is a fixed term post to cover maternity leave
The post is for 24 hours per week .. Shifts will be allocated over a 7 day period.

The successful candidate will be-
• Committed to providing high quality care to a range of patients with differing needs and be willing to embrace new role opportunities. You should be able to work as part of a team and be able to use your initiative. Excellent communication skills and flexibility to meet the needs of the service
• Have the opportunity to work closely with members of the multidisciplinary team, which will provide the candidate with advanced knowledge and skills to provide high standards of care to our patients.
• Working closely with the ward manager and deputising in their absence

On-Call
Please note that senior positions (AFC band 8A or above) may be expected to participate in an on-call rota, if the role is predominantly operational.
• Manage the ward in the absence of the Ward Manager, co-ordinating the activities of the ward team and deploying resources effectively.
• Ensure that effective communication is maintained both within the ward itself and with relevant external agencies or individuals.
• Organise own workload and adjust priorities in response to issues arising in the workplace.
• Recognise and respond appropriately to issues which require urgent or immediate attention, reporting to other members of the multi-disciplinary/management team as necessary.
• Deputise for the ward manager as requested at meetings and other events.
• Maintain ward management records and produce timely management reports at the request of the ward manager or as required in his/her absence.
• Maintain comprehensive clinical records.
• complete ward audits and contribute to ward improvements.
