About the Role:
Our client is a purpose-designed Therapeutic Community located in the heart of rural Warwickshire, providing homes for up to 24 children who have experienced early disruption to their development. They are seeking a compassionate and experienced Senior Support Worker to join their team and make a real difference in the lives of the children in their care. In this role, you will be at the forefront of delivering person-centred care while leading and mentoring a team of support workers. You will have the opportunity to contribute to a nurturing and therapeutic environment, working closely with children who require a stable, supportive, and secure home to heal and develop.
The setting is made up of four large detached 6-bed residential care homes, featuring communal gardens, sports, therapy, and amenity spaces that help create a holistic environment for growth and recovery.
Key Responsibilities:
• Lead and manage a team of support workers, providing guidance, training, and support to ensure high standards of care.
• Deliver therapeutic, person-centred care, supporting children with complex needs, including emotional and behavioural challenges.
• Create and review care plans, regularly assessing and adapting them to meet individual needs and goals.
• Foster a nurturing, safe, and positive environment where children feel heard, valued, and respected.
• Promote independence and life skills, supporting children to engage in daily activities and community-based opportunities.
• Work collaboratively with internal and external professionals, including therapists and social workers, to ensure integrated care.
• Oversee daily operations, including record-keeping, report writing, and safeguarding responsibilities.
• Be a positive role model, guiding the team and ensuring high levels of staff engagement and morale.
Essential Criteria:
• Experience in a Support Worker or Leadership role, ideally within residential care, with at least 2 years in a supervisory capacity.
• Passion for working with vulnerable children and young people, especially those with complex emotional and developmental needs.
• NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care (or equivalent).
• Strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage a team and make informed decisions.
• A clear understanding of safeguarding, child protection, and relevant legislation.
• Empathy, patience, and the ability to foster trust with children and team members.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
Desirable Criteria:
• Experience working in a Therapeutic Community or similar setting.
• Knowledge and experience in therapeutic approaches to care.
• Additional qualifications in Child Care, Mental Health, or other relevant areas.
What We Offer:
• Competitive salary based on experience.
• Extensive training and professional development opportunities.
• A supportive and empowering team environment, with regular supervision and mentoring.
• Career progression opportunities within the organisation.
• A beautiful and serene rural setting, with access to on-site amenities, sports, and therapy spaces.
• Pension scheme and additional employee benefits.
If you are an experienced and dedicated professional with a passion for making a difference in the lives of children, our client offers the opportunity to be part of a unique and transformative community.
