Crynodeb
As a Senior Crime Analyst in the Environment Agency’s National Environmental Crime Unit, you will be leading on the crime analysis support for Water Industry Regulation Transformation (WIRT) programme.
Your work will include:
• Supporting complex Water Industry investigations from intelligence through to evidential stage.
• Producing criminal intelligence products regarding the current, medium and long-term threats and risks facing the EA in Water Industry offending.
• Preparing evidential products, exhibits, statements and giving evidence at court if required.
• Briefing investigators, peers and managers on your analytical findings.
• Influencing others and advocating for crime analysis as well as intelligence led enforcement.
• Supporting the WIRT programme become intelligence led and help with MoRiLE assessments of Water Industry investigations.
• Share expertise with Water Industry Regulation colleagues developing intelligence products in the compliance space.
• Support work to develop a joined-up approach to intelligence led regulation and enforcement.
• Any other duties that are commensurate with the role and depending on the organisational need.

The team
The Intelligence Team manage and develop all criminal intelligence for the EA. Made up of several roles and disciplines, we build and maintain strong relationships with our partners to work as one enforcement community and drive our intelligence led approach to tackling environmental crime including water industry offending. The team provide a professional and timely service and are focussed on continuously improving how we do things to make sure our outcomes meet our customers’ needs.
Experience/skills required
It’s essential that the successful applicant is an experienced Crime or Intelligence Analyst with NIAT, IPP or equivalent.
We are also looking for applicants who can demonstrate the following:
•Experience in Tactical and Strategic analysis.
•Proven Analytical and critical thinking skills in a law enforcement or intelligence team.
•Excellent communication skills including delivering feedback, negotiation, motivating people and nurturing relationships.
•Exceptional report writing skills including the ability to express complex ideas in a clear and concise way.
•Highly organised and able to prioritise a varied workload.
•Able to work with minimal supervision.
•Confidence in presenting your work to audiences at varying levels of knowledge and experience.
•Working collaboratively with other teams and external stakeholders.
•Demonstrable coaching/mentoring skills with an appetite for developing people’s capabilities as well as your own.
•Strong IT skills including use of Microsoft Office Suite and analytical software such as i2 Analysts Notebook and GIS.
