Summary
Overview
The translator plays a crucial role in enabling HMCTS and other partners within the Ministry of
Justice to fulfil the obligations of their respective Welsh Language Schemes. The post holder will
require linguistic skills of the highest standard in both English and Welsh in order to translate
accurately and correctly having due regard to the grammar and syntax of both languages.
Job Description
Key responsibilities:
Translate a wide range of documents e.g. agenda, reports, minutes, letters, e-mails in order to ensure that HMCTS and wider members of the MoJ family comply with their Welsh Language Schemes.
As HMCTS continues its journey with the digitalisation of many services, you will assist with translating content, testing with Welsh speakers, and checking that the Welsh content appears correctly on the Welsh platform.
Proof-read own work and work of other translators within the team.
Provide a simultaneous translation service in meetings, and also in court and tribunal hearings later on after receiving the appropriate training.
Present translated work within a bilingual format if required. This will involve familiarisation with bilingual design
