Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Planning Lawyer (PO7) to join our dynamic and fast-paced legal team. In this role, you will provide expert legal advice and representation to local authorities and clients on various planning and environmental law matters. You will be responsible for advising on planning applications, appeals, and issues related to land use regulation. As a senior lawyer, you will also guide and mentor junior staff, ensuring the delivery of high-quality services throughout the organization. This position will require a thorough understanding of national and local planning policies, as well as the ability to navigate complex legal frameworks. You will work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders, including government agencies, developers, and community groups, to facilitate strategic planning initiatives. Responsibilities
Provide legal advice on planning applications and related matters to clients and local authorities.
Represent the organization in planning inquiries, hearings, and court proceedings.
Draft and review legal documents, including planning agreements, appeals, and submissions.
Conduct legal research on planning law changes, case law, and legislative updates.
Collaborate with planning officers, stakeholders, and other legal teams to resolve complex planning issues.
Mentor and develop junior lawyers and support staff in planning law matters.
Contribute to policy development and strategic planning initiatives for the organization.
Requirements
Qualified solicitor or barrister with substantial experience in planning law.
Strong knowledge of national and local planning legislation and policy frameworks.
Proven track record of managing complex planning cases and inquiries.
Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret legislation and case law.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills for client and stakeholder interactions.
Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
Demonstrated commitment to continuous professional development and legal excellence.

End Time: 17:00
