NB: Police Vacancy - only for candidates with a minimum of 3 years continuous UK address history. Please note that this vacancy is subject to a strict security vetting procedure.

Key Requirements:

Experience of using IT systems, including Microsoft Office applications.
Demonstrable customer care skills.
Ability to organise work effectively in order to meet deadlines and targets.
Proven administrative skills.
Good verbal and written communication skills.



The purpose of the role is to provide an effective and efficient quality administrative service to the firearms licensing team, seeking to ensure that all firearms licensing applications are in support of legal activity.

Key Responsibilities:

Undertake processing activities flagging any concerns or suspicions of potentially criminal activity to the Supervisors.
Maintain awareness and update knowledge in the area of Firearms Legislation and changing processes and procedures.
Provide customer focused point of contact for telephone enquiries to the team, providing advice and guidance to callers on all aspects of firearms licensing.
Manage/process payments for certificates
Receive, sort and distribute high volumes of mail and email.
Carry out checks on applicants using Force intelligence systems.
Ensure that all applications are appropriately and accurately recorded and uploaded to management systems.
Scan application documents for retention on suitable database, ensuring archived material is fully recorded and stored prior to disposal of the hard copy.
