Job Description

Based at Angus House, Orchardbank Business Park, Forfar.

This job is workstyle 5.

You will have the opportunity to benefit from our flexible and agile working practices. This means you will work from home for part of your week and spend some time in council buildings to best suit your work, meetings and collaboration.

This is an exciting opportunity for career progression or development in the planning profession. Angus has a special natural and built environment with mountains, valleys, and extensive coastline of varying character, and towns with significant heritage value. You will work within a high performing and supportive team to make decisions that shape how that special environment changes in the future.

We are looking for a chartered town planner with experience in development management and who is passionate about our environment, capable of assisting in staff development and service improvement, and ultimately committed to delivering a quality service.

This is a new post to join our two existing team leaders in delivery of the council’s development management function. You will assist with overseeing the effective and efficient determination of planning applications and enforcement of planning legislation, and ensure that quality standards, customer care, productivity and performance levels are set and monitored. You will be required to provide advice to planning and enforcement officers as well as handle your own case load of major planning applications and appeals. You will attend and provide advice to committees of the council. You will be required to support the development of staff and to assist in the delivery of service improvement.

Please note interviews will be held week commencing 3 March 2025 (provisional).
