Summary


To lead and manage a team of employment specialists to deliver a high-quality employment service for people with mental health problems.





- Managing a team of up to 10 whole time equivalent (WTE) staff, providing effective and regular supervision and leadership on a day-to-day basis. Holding regular team meetings and team development activities when required.

- Managing the recruitment and selection process for any vacancies within the team

- Ensuring that all staff receive adequate training and support to carry out their roles effectively; identifying training needs and addressing any gaps in skill development. Carrying out personal development reviews with staff and ensuring that all staff have an effective personal development plan in place.

- Keeping up to date with all organisational policies (e.g. HR, health and safety, IT, finance, etc).





- Motivating and leading the team to achieve high levels of performance against targets, addressing any performance deficits in a timely manner following the staff performance issues policy.

- Ensuring that all service data is collected, stored and audited effectively, in line with relevant policies. Carrying out regular quality checks to ensure that all staff are adhering to data management protocols.

- Carrying out regular service evaluations, analysing data and presenting reports for senior managers, staff, partner organisations and service users.

- Using initiative to set up effective systems to ensure the service is managed efficiently and high standards of service provision are met.

Job Purpose:
To lead and manage a team of employment specialists to deliver a high-quality employment service for people with mental health problems.
Key Responsibilities:

Managing a team of up to 10 whole time equivalent (WTE) staff, providing effective and regular supervision and leadership on a day-to-day basis. Holding regular team meetings and team development activities when required.

Managing the recruitment and selection process for any vacancies within the team, and being responsible for the retention and career development of staff.

Ensuring that all staff receive adequate training and support to carry out their roles effectively; identifying training needs and addressing any gaps in skill development. Carrying out personal development reviews with staff and ensuring that all staff have an effective personal development plan in place.

Keeping up to date with all organisational policies (e.g. HR, health and safety, IT, finance, etc), and ensuring that all staff understand and follow relevant policies throughout their day-to-day work.

Developing and maintaining strong working partnerships with other managers and departments within the Trust, and with external organisations such as Jobcentre Plus, GP practices, employment services, training providers, and community organisations.

Qualifications / Education
Essential:

Educated to postgraduate degree level or equivalent (A).

Management qualification or training (A).
Desirable:

Training in Individual Placement and Support (IPS) or similar (A).
Experience
Essential:

Experience of delivering employment advice to people with mental health problems and/or disabilities (A/I).

Experience of managing/supervising a team of employment advisers, including performance management (A/I).

Experience of setting up new services or projects (A/I).
Desirable:

Experience of managing/supervising an employment team or service in the NHS (A/I).

Lived experience of mental health problems or caring for someone with a mental health problem (A/I).
Knowledge
Essential:

Up-to-date knowledge about how to succeed in today’s job market including labour market trends and common recruitment practices (A/I/T).

Knowledge of primary and secondary care mental health service systems (A/I/T).

Desirable:

Knowledge of the local area (London Borough of Southwark ) and its population (A/I/T).
