Summary
The Warhead Packaging Manager will support the Containers Technical Lead through:
The management of interfaces with current, new and future container systems.
Supporting warhead container programme and the interfaces between contractor support, facility operators, Defence Nuclear Safety Regulator (DNSR) and Defence Ordnance Safety Regulator (DOSR).
The management and intelligent customer oversight of lifting equipment in support of the warhead container system.
Development of the warhead packaging strategy.
Ensuring warhead containers remain available and operational.
Understanding of both Defence and UK regulatory frameworks that enable the safe and secure transport of dangerous good, therefore ensuring and providing compliance with the Carriage of Dangerous Goods transport regulations and Defence Safety Authority requirements.
Manage the logistics and utilisation of the warhead container system and its supporting components.
Work closely with enabling facilities, monitoring availability of warhead containers and lifting equipment.
Interaction and oversight of Atomic Weapons Establishment in-service, future and dangerous goods packaging teams.
Responsible for advising the Container Technical Lead and where appropriate ISM (Mk4A) Chief Engineer, on the short-term and longer-term packaging priorities.
Hybrid and flexible working can be considered for this post but will need regular workplace attendance due to security constraints. Candidates are encouraged to discuss options with the recruiting line manager before submitting an application.
