Whipps Cross Hospital has embarked on a journey to redevelop the Hospital over the next 5 years this provides an exciting opportunity to be part of the process in reshaping services we deliver to our patients.

Whipps Cross Hospital acknowledges the significance of play and its influence on a patient's experience. Therefore, we are seeking an individual who is dedicated to meeting the needs of children and young people, effectively engaging with them, and demonstrating care and compassion in their work. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to learn and develop new skills with the support the team and contribute to the promotion of play services. The post holder will be responsible for providing play opportunities that are appropriate for the child's age and developmental stage, as well as offering support to the hospitalized child and their family. They will work alongside a qualified Health Play specialist. Throughout this job description, the term "child" refers to individuals between the ages of 0-18 years, encompassing a wide range of developmental abilities and, at times, complex and challengingbehaviours.

This job opportunity is based in a busy paediatric Emergency Department (ED) within the main hospital. The role involves working autonomously with the support of A&E medical staff and the play team on the children's ward'.
