The Role:
Are you experienced in supporting phonics and early literacy in primary education? Long Term Futures is seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant to join a Year 2 team in a vibrant school in Tower Hamlets. This role involves working closely with the class teacher and leading phonics sessions, specifically using the Read Write Inc program. It's an excellent opportunity to help young learners build essential literacy skills.
What we're looking for:
- Experience or training in delivering the Read Write Inc phonics program.
- Previous experience working in a primary school environment, particularly in Key Stage 1.
- A solid understanding of phonics strategies and their importance in literacy development.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to engage effectively with pupils and staff.
- A proactive approach to supporting children with varying learning needs.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Assisting the class teacher in delivering lessons that engage and support Year 2 pupils.
- Leading small phonics groups to help develop children's reading and writing skills using the Read Write Inc program.
- Providing one-to-one support for pupils who need extra help with phonics.
- Monitoring pupil progress and feeding back to the teacher to inform lesson planning.
- Creating a positive and inclusive learning environment that encourages pupil participation.
- Supporting the social and emotional development of all children in the class.
