Full time starting salary is normally in the range of £28,929 per annum

Location: Cranfield, Bedfordshire

We are inviting applicants passionate about fungal biology to join our new Magan Centre of Applied Mycology as a Senior Technician.

About the Role
The Applied Mycology Group recently secured funding for the creation of the Magan Centre of Applied Mycology (MCAM) expected to grow from four staff to 36 by 2031-32. Your role will be to ensure the smooth operation of laboratory facilities by managing fungal cultures, performing ecophysiological assessments, and conducting various experimental procedures.

About You
You will have an HNC qualification in a relevant scientific discipline or equivalent significant experience, in-depth technical know-how in the relevant scientific area gained over a significant number of years. You will require expertise in culturing fungi, including isolation, maintenance of fungal cultures both in liquid and solid, and sterile techniques. Knowledge of fungal biology, ecophysiology, basic genetics concepts and understanding of the molecular biology of fungi.

Ability to prioritise tasks with excellent time management and organisational skills and ability to deliver to deadlines. You will have excellent verbal, written communication and interpersonal skills.
