Grounded in the belief that creativity has the power to catalyse social change, the organisation has pioneered a unique methodology of relationship based, holistic community work, encompassing creative arts, experiences and skills that foster collaboration, engagement and participation to address the complex challenges stemming from our cultural and social histories.

Its mission is to empower individuals and communities to navigate and overcome the barriers posed by societal norms and inequalities. Kandu's accredited alternative Education Provision programme and afterschool, and holiday engagement activities programmes provide a lifeline for young people who may otherwise lack access to enriching activities and for whom due to additional needs or life experiences, formal education settings are presently not appropriate.
Through grant funding, commissions, sponsorship and donations Kandu delivers a diverse range of services. This includes organisational consultancy, training, music, art, films, mentorship, and sports (events and participatory experiences) nurturing creativity personal and organisational growth among participants.
General Duties and Responsibilities
Community Development Facilitator will mainly work in our alternative education program but aspects in community settings . Essential to have empathy and understanding and compassion.
Team and individual skills. An ability in the creative/artistic direction with a keen willingness to learn and develop alongside others. There are many opportunities to acquire knowledge and skills. Great communication skills and passion for a positive outlook for all who use our service.
Safeguarding Requirements
Kandu Arts are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.
The successful applicant will be required to go through a robust vetting process e.g. they will be required to have an enhanced DBS check. There is strict staff behaviour policy.
Safeguarding requirements for this role is to be the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) for the organisation.
The post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974
