Summary

Waste Operative Loader
Location: Exeter
Salary: £12 per hour (PAYE)
Hours: Mon - Friday, 8:30am - 5pm (40 hours)
Start Date: Immediate (6 months temp contract)

We're excited to present this great opportunity as a waste operative loader in the heart of Exeter. This role offers the chance to be a part of a vital team responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and sustainability of the city. As a part of the waste operative loader, you'll play a key role in waste collection, transportation, and disposal.

Main responsibilities

  • Adhere to Safe Systems of Work, Health & Safety policies.
  • To work mainly as part of a Waste Operations team, but not exclusively.
  • To undertake all tasks utilising manual handling techniques.
  • To complete paperwork relevant to the work as instructed by Supervisors / Managers.
  • To use in cab / mobile devices to undertake certain tasks as instructed by Supervisors / Managers.
  • You may be given reasonable instruction to carry out other tasks related to Waste Operations / Street Cleansing /MRF
  • To participate in Corporate Training as required
  • Required to work catch up weekends after a Bank Holidays / Christmas as required.


Qualifications & Knowledge
Essential

  • Basic Literacy/Numeracy
  • Driving Licence
  • Knowledge of Exeter area

Desirable

  • LGV C
  • NVQ 2 Waste Management
  • Driver CPC
  • Experience working on refuse vehicles

Essential

  • Excellent Customer Care Approach

Verbal (telephone/public)
Written (time sheets/accident forms)

  • Corporate responsibility (loyalty to our organisation)
  • Motivated & flexible
  • Undertake training & additional duties as instructed
  • Able to manoeuvre & empty bulky items and capable of lifting full sacks of waste utilising manual handling techniques.
  • Be prepared to deal with adverse smells and weather conditions
  • Wear corporate uniform and protective equipment as issued and comply fully with all health & safety regulations using safe working practices.
