Summary


The post-holder is to assist with the provision and development of the Pharmacy Technical Services department at the Royal Free Hospital rotating between each manufacturing area (Non-Sterile, Terminally Sterilised Batches, CIVAS and Chemotherapy).

The prime function of the job is to prepare medicinal products either as batches or for individual patients against prepared worksheets.

The post-holder is required to work with his/her arms in isolators, Laminar Air Flow Cabinets (LAFCs) for long periods of time, with full concentration.
Overalls, gloves and masks are worn when processing. This role requires fine manipulation, so manual dexterity is essential, as is accuracy and attention to detail and good eyesight.

The post-holder is expected to have knowledge of and work according to the principles of Good Manufacturing Practice, in order to maintain the department’s Manufacturing “Specials” Licence.
He / She will be expected to help the Chief and Senior Technicians in the unit with the training of all new staff working in the unit and re-training of any staff who have been absent from working in that part of the rotation for a long time.

We are looking for dynamic individuals to join our team making medicines for patients internal and external to the trust including a large number of home-care patients. You will be involved in preparing a wide range of products and will rotate around the three areas of production gaining experience in a wide variety of manufacturing techniques.

GCSEs (Grade A – C) in Maths, English and Science are required, and previous experience of working in a pharmacy manufacturing environment would be beneficial.
