What’s on offer?
Not only do we offer a competitive salary of £55,000-£60,000 DOE with excellent benefits, we also firmly believe that your

At Animal Friends, you can choose to be based remotely within the UK, within our Amesbury office, or hybrid (a mixture of both).
At Animal Friends Insurance, we’re all about empowering our colleagues to make work work for them wherever possible, which is why
we also welcome applications from candidates looking to work part-time or condensed hours.
What you`ll do
As we continue to expand our business, we are looking for a candidate to join our Underwriting Analysis team at Animal Friends
Insurance. You will be integral to the operations of our business and will be tasked with conducting advanced data analysis, to
evaluate underwriting risks and opportunities. This role requires a strong foundation in data analytics and a deep understanding
of underwriting practices.
* Lead in-depth data extraction, analysis, and interpretation to understand underwriting risks and opportunities.
* Expert capability handling structured data including the ability to query and manipulate (e.g. SQL), and familiarity with Data
Bricks would be significant plus.
* Familiarity with insurance-specific data structures, and the ability to navigate event‑based and transactional data structures
relating to premium, claims, complaints and other policy events such as inception and cancellation.
* Ensure accuracy of underwriting analytics processes through advanced and systematic data analytics — for example, review of
risk classification and assessment of the accuracy of underwriting delivery systems implementation (e.g. underwriting rules,
information used for pricing).
* Craft detailed reports and presentations that simply convey analytical findings to stakeholders.
* Track key underwriting performance indicators and promptly report significant trends to senior management.
* Champion initiatives aimed at refining underwriting systems and guide junior team members. Your expertise in these areas will
be crucial in elevating our underwriting risk assessment and helping us optimise our underwriting decisions based on
underwriting trends and risk factors
* Able to easily work from home with a quiet space and good internet connection
Who you are
* Strong numerical background, preferably degree educated in mathematical or statistical subject at 2:1 or above, or equivalent
experience (e.g. Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, Specialist Informatics, or Data Science).
* Experience in an analytical role, preferably within the insurance industry.
* Demonstrated proficiency in data analysis tools and software, and the ability to mentor others in their use.
* Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to think critically.
* Excellent communication skills and the ability to effectively convey complex analytical findings.
* In-depth understanding of underwriting principles and insurance product structures.
* Familiarity with advanced data analytics programming languages such as SQL, R or Python is a plus
Why choose Animal Friends
Animal Friends has been supporting UK pet owners for more than 25 years with our comprehensive and meaningful pet insurance. We
are not only an award-winning business but one of the largest pet insurance providers in the UK. But we’re not like other leading
UK pet insurers, we were built to be unmistakably different – giving back to incredible animal welfare and conservation charities,

the quarter’s choice
* Most importantly, you’ll be working with, and supported by, a team of courageous, passionate, and kind-hearted individuals – we
might be biased, but we think that they’re a pretty pawsome bunch!
