Summary
Detention Custody Officer (DCO) - Holyhead Port Holding Room
-Salary £27,847 per annum
-42 hours per week
-24-hour service, 365 days a year.
-Full flexibility will be required as this is a 24- hour service, 365 days a year. Fixed rolling shift pattern covering both days and nights on a 4on/4off pattern.
You must be over 21 and have a full UK manual car driving licence - no endorsements and have held this for 1 year.

Our DCO's come from a variety of backgrounds, with exceptional communication and interpersonal skills. Your role is to maintain and promote the care and welfare of all residents in your care, while maintaining high standards of security and safety.

No specific role experience or qualifications are required to be a DCO as full training and supported development are given. Experience of dealing sensitively with a wide variety of people who have been agitated, confused or angry would be an advantage.
Training
Successful applicants will be invited to attend a 6-week initial training course (ITC) with the added advantage of a Level 3 apprenticeship in Detention and Custody. Full attendance on the training course is compulsory. Please note that this course may be in a separate location to the role. This will develop the skills needed to professionally deliver this rewarding, sometimes challenging role with integrity and respect.

Essential Criteria
-UK citizen, Citizen of the Commonwealth with your own indefinite leave to remain (not through marriage) or EEA citizen.
-Valid and in-date passport, with no restrictions on your stay in the UK (A valid visa in an expired passport cannot be used to prove right to work in the UK, you must provide a biometric residence permit alongside an in-date passport.
-Continuously resided in the UK for the previous 3 years with no more than 3 months spent overseas at any one time.
-Specific driving compliance is attached to this role.
-Full UK manual driving licence with at least 12 months post qualifying experience.
-Fewer than 7 points on your UK Driving Licence.
-Have not been subject to a driving ban within the last 5 years (from date of ban ending)
-Not currently bankrupt
-The position is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act; Successful candidates will be required to undergo Enhanced DBS and vetting to a level of Counter Terrorist Checked (CTC)
