Summary
JOB DESCRIPTION
To undertake maintenance decorating or cleaning duties throughout the home as required to maintain the smooth running of the service. To work as part of a team in order to provide the best quality service possible to our service users.
RESPONSIBILITIES
(a) To undertake cleaning maintenance and repairs within own capabilities in all arrears of the home. To inform the manager if a particular duty is beyond own capabilities in good time.
(b) To attend as and when required,
i. during an emergency when a maintenance presence is desirable,
ii. to attend the home to complete urgent repairs which would fall within own capabilities,
iii. to attend at such times to ensure work is completed or carried out at times which will reduce disruption to the service.
(c) To work with relevant contractors who provide services to the home. To work as directed by the home manager with regard to contacting contractors, supervising contractors and monitoring the work of contractors. In addition to ensure contractors work within the homes health and safety policy.
(d) To complete any health and safety checks as necessary and as directed. To complete regular checks on water temperatures and the fire system with appropriate training and instruction to be provided.
(e) To maintain relevant records appropriately and in timely fashion.
(f) To use equipment properly and with care, observe all health and safety requirements, and reporting any problems or potential hazards to the manager.
(g) To undertake any other duties relating to the post that may be required from time to time.
(h) To attend any health and safety or other appropriate training as required by the manager and be aware of and adhere to COSHH regulations and have a working knowledge of the home’s policies and procedures.
(i) To attend and contribute to staff meetings.
(j) To ensure good hygiene practice with regard to hand washing and the wearing of appropriate clothing in order to prevent the risk of personal and cross infection.
(k) To be sensitive to service users’ social, cultural, and religious needs.
(l) To ensure that confidentiality is maintained and information concerning a service user is never discussed with any other person without the service user’s informed consent.
(m) To report any problems/changes/complaints concerning the home or service users to the manager.
(n) To maintain good working relationships and communication with all stakeholders.
CONTRACTED HOURS
The basic hours of work are hours per week and are flexible to allow for the exigencies of the service, e.g. Bank Holidays.
EXPERIENCE
Relevant training will be given.
CONFIDENTIALITY
Confidentiality is of prime importance in the normal course of duty. The post holder will have access to confidential information relating to the home. Such information must not be communicated to anyone, unless prior permission has been given, there is a danger to health, or for legal reasons.
