Please refer to full job description For the Senior Clinical Coder position (Band 5 + 30% R&R Premium) the successful candidate must have passed the NCCQ examination. An extensive understanding of International Classification of Diseases (ICD-10) and OPCS-4 as well as thorough understanding of national clinical coding standards and conventions is required. A band 4 intermediate clinical coder position would be considered for any candidates wanting to take the NCCQ examination or awaiting results and with a minimum 2 years recent experience working as a clinical coder within the NHS. Any candidates not wishing to take the NCCQ examination must have a minimum 3 years recent experience within an acute NHS trust clinical coding department. Candidates must have completed the NHS Digital approved standards / foundation course. Other essential skills include excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively communicate with junior clinical coders, auditors and clinicians. If you choose to sit the NCCQ examination, you will be fully supported.
