Responsible For: 1:1 Sessional Work for Creative Mentoring

The Creative Mentor role works with young people on a 1-2-1 and small group setting to support and develop not only their creative interests but also to provide a safe, nurturing environment for personal growth and development.

Our work at AIMCommunity is underpinned by Youth Work principles and practice with young people at the centre of the work we undertake. The role includes preparing, delivering and evaluating meaningful sessions for young people as well as communicating well with referrers, parents and carers. The role requires individuals to be passionate about engaging with young people to inspire and informally educate.

The role requires flexibility for delivering sessions, possibly at multiple locations and to be able to adapt and flex with differing needs of young people.

Key Responsibilities:

• Plan, prepare, deliver and evaluate 1:1 and group sessions with young people as part of the Creative Mentoring programme;
• To report to their Line Manager before each work day to speak about daily tasks.
• Attend/ contribute to review meetings for young people;
• Ensure that referral information in Ninox has been accessed and understood prior to starting mentoring with young people;
• Be available for initial visit and tour for potential new young people;
• Where appropriate arrange start date and induction for young people;
• Ensuring that record keeping, monitoring and evaluation of programmes are completed;
• Fill out session review forms on Ninox after each session with young people;
• Communicate with parents/carers/guardians regarding cancellation of sessions within a reasonable timeframe;
• Complete Level 2 Award in Youth Work Practice where required

Requirements:

Evidence of positive engagement with young people. A related qualification in Youth Work/ Mental Health/ SEND is desirable. Demonstrate creative skills and experience, ideally in one or more of the following areas - music/music production/digital art/art (other creative areas will also be considered). Ideally experience working with and supporting teens and young people with Asperger's, ASD & ADHD. Able to get across town to various AIMCommunity locations. Must be available on a Thursday and Friday in the day as well as other possible days.
