Summary
The post combines direct clinical work with children and families with consultation to CAMHS, teaching staff, social workers and others. The work will include assessing and understanding complex and challenging behavior, mental health, trauma work, developing positive behavioral approaches, direct work with children and young people. There may be opportunities for cognitive and ASD/ADHD assessment and group work. We are looking for someone with at least two years qualified experience who: Have experience of working with children and young people with learning disabilities and/or mental health difficulties. Skills in the use of functional assessment, intervention and management Skills and ability to communicate in a variety of ways and within a range of networks and good muti-tasking skills. Likes a challenge and works well in a team. To contribute to the assessment of clients with a learning disability and a concurrent mental health, emotional or behaviour problem, and their families, in conjunction with other members of the MDT. To plan, deliver and evaluate treatments/interventions (e.g. behaviour therapy, family work, medication) to this client group. To work closely with other agencies (schools, social services and others), and act as a liaison between agencies.
