Summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the busy and demanding environment of the Housing Claims Team playing a key role in the Council’s response to Housing Conditions and EPA Claims as Senior Surveyor.
You will be responsible for carrying out in-depth surveys including intrusive and specialist testing to enable accurate diagnosis of building defects and failures having due regard to the properties fitness for habitation (HHSRS). You will be required to accurately establish breaches of the Council’s repairing obligations and specify appropriate remedial works and improvements. The ability to clearly define and confidently report as to obligatory works of repair and recommended improvements in relation to statutory and contractual standards is essential. The role will require you to attend property inspections both as a single expert but also jointly with external experts on behalf of claimant tenants. You will be required to produce comprehensive CPR compliant reports and Scott schedules, undertake any necessary training to ensure you are fully aware of your duties as an expert witness and your reports are compliant. You will be required to attend court and appear on behalf of the Council as an expert witness. You will also complete joint inspections where necessary with other professionals such as Environmental Health Officers and report comprehensively.
You will be responsible for providing expert technical advice and support on building related matters to the Housing Claims Team and legal advisors and will project manage remedial works including site visits and post inspections to ensure that specifications and quality standards are complied with.
