JOB DESCRIPTION – DOMCILIARY CARE WORKER

Summary of the Role

 The key purpose of the role is to provide high quality person centred care for people with disabilities, elderly people and various conditions within the comfort of their own home.
 Provide excellent care within the domiciliary care setting, enabling individuals to be able to live in their own home as independently as possible, whilst respecting their preferences and choices.
 Assist individuals with their daily needs and aspirations.
 To be flexible and responsive to change.
 The role involves working flexibly over 7 days
 Visiting multiple homes to provide domiciliary care.

Responsibilities

 Assist clients with personal care, including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting, whilst maintaining their dignity and respect at all times.
 Support service users with mobility safely, including the use of hoist, sara steady, walking aids or assisting with transfers.
 To use Personal Protective Equipment at all times during care and notifying the Management Team before it runs out of stock.
 Administer or assist with medication according to care plans.
 Prepare and serve meals, ensuring dietary needs and preferences are met.
 Perform light household duties, such as cleaning, laundry, and tidying.
 Provide companionship and emotional support to service users.
 Escort service users to appointments or social activities as needed.
 Monitor and report changes in clients’ health or behaviour to the appropriate personnel.
 Maintain accurate and detailed records of care provided, and complying with care plans and company’s policies and procedures.
 Encourage and support clients to maintain their independence in daily activities, fostering self-confidence and dignity.
 Assist service users in decision- making about their care and daily routines, respecting their preferences and choices.
 Ensure the safety and well-being of clients by adhering to safeguarding policies and procedures.
 Identify and report any signs of abuse, neglect, or exploitation, following the appropriate channels.
 Keep good records of service user’s care, communicate effectively with service users and families, and share information as appropriate whilst maintaining confidentiality and data protection
