Summary
Position: Nursery Assistant & Playworker (Dual Role)
Hours:
Term Time:
The Gap Club (TGC): 17.5 hours per week, Monday–Friday, 3:00 PM–6:30 PM.
St George's Junior School (SGW): 22.5 hours per week, Monday–Friday, 10:00 AM–3:00 PM (half-hour unpaid lunch).
Holiday Club:
The Gap Club: 40 hours per week during school holidays, flexible days and times.
Location: Primary base at St George’s Junior School, Weybridge. Occasional meetings at The Gap Club’s head office in Old Windsor (within 10-mile radius).
Days of Work: Monday to Friday
Contract Type: Annualised Hybrid Contract – Full-Time, All Year
About the Role
This is a unique opportunity to work across two exceptional childcare settings:
St George’s Junior School Weybridge (SGW): Supporting early years education during term time.
The Gap Club (TGC): Delivering high-quality wraparound care during term time and running dynamic Holiday Clubs throughout the year.
You’ll play a key role in creating a nurturing and engaging environment, supporting children’s development through play-based learning, fostering strong relationships with children, families, and colleagues.
Key Responsibilities
Assist with planning, implementing, and evaluating engaging activities.
Safeguard children’s welfare, adhering to all safeguarding policies.
Collaborate with staff to ensure smooth transitions for children across settings.
Document children’s progress and provide updates to families.
Support children’s social, emotional, and physical development.
Promote positive interactions and create a safe, inclusive environment.
What We’re Looking For
Essential Skills/Qualifications:
NVQ Level 3 in Early Years Childcare or equivalent.
Experience in play-based early years settings.
Paediatric First Aid qualification (or willingness to obtain).
Strong organisational and interpersonal skills.
Knowledge of EYFS and safeguarding frameworks.
Desirable Skills:
Experience in independent schools or with children with additional needs.
Familiarity with online learning journals.
Clean driving license.
Personal Qualities:
Empathetic, proactive, and reflective practitioner.
Passionate about working with children and fostering development.
