Summary
Main Purpose of the Role:
To build, develop and lead a best in class HV engineering function to support business growth.
To lead and direct technical innovation, representing ESM Power in the ICP community externally.
As a member of the Board of Directors, the postholder will contribute to the strategic direction of the business.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
-Lead the technical strategy and delivery of excellent service to customers, responsible for setting standards, quality and benchmarking
-Play a key role in the development and implementation of business strategy, ensuring continued growth which is clearly communicated and embraced across the business.
-Lead and direct with excellent engineering, technical and communication skills
-Work closely with the Business Development Director to secure business growth and generate business opportunities
-Build and maintain excellent relationships internally and externally, fully partnering with all stakeholders to understand business needs and being proactive to customer needs to secure future business
-Proactive leadership, technical and commercial expertise on major projects to ensure delivery commitments are achieved
-Provide technical expertise, leadership and direction, ensuring technical compliance and quality production.
-Monitor project risk and risk mitigation, assist in the resolution of issues
-Cross functional working, serving as a technical expert across teams in the achievement of business strategy, to include Design and Tendering input and Business Development Support
-Ensure projects achieve the desired outcomes and deliverables meet customer needs
-Proactively coach, mentor and develop Operations team members to secure growth, technical skills and knowledge
-Technical assessment of staff and contractors
-Represent the business internally and externally, to include active attendance at technical meetings
-Support the interface with DNO's to secure and optimise grid connection arrangements
-Champion HSQE
-Ensure Company HR Policies and Procedures are implemented within the function and, in liaison with the Major Projects Operations Manager, effective feedback is given for employee reviews
Qualifications and Experience:
-Educated to degree level in a relevant engineering discipline with at least 5 years' experience at senior management level
-At least 10 years' experience of working within the utilities sector, in particular grid network companies
-Strong leadership, communication and interpersonal skills, team player and customer focussed
-Broad based business understanding
-A high calibre professional, self-starting, commercially aware with a strong results ethic
-Microsoft Word, Excel and Powerpoint
-Full, valid UK Driving Licence
-Previous experience of working with UK renewables projects desirable
-BESS experience desirable
