Hybrid working

Please note that this role relates to operating model development and not ICT business analysis. It is about the development and design of operating models rather than the implementation of technology.

In this exciting role as a Business Design Lead, you will work within a cutting-edge team focused on shaping the future of the UK’s national security. This position involves using advanced analytical techniques and a deep understanding of public sector challenges to solve complex organisational problems.

As a leader, you will collaborate with various stakeholders, manage senior relationships, and design solutions that drive transformational change. The role requires a forward-thinking, innovative individual with experience in complex problem-solving, strategic thinking, and stakeholder engagement. This is a unique opportunity to play a pivotal role in the country's counter-terrorism efforts.

This Business Design Lead role is not focused on ICT business analysis or traditional business analysis tasks like capturing requirements or creating generic process maps. Instead, it centres on tangible, hands-on experience in developing and amending operating models, specifically in relation to people, organisational governance, and information changes, rather than technology. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of designing and evolving operating models within both the public and private sectors, with a strong focus on organisational structures and governance.

Although the role may interact with enabling technologies, it’s crucial that the primary expertise lies in the development and design of operating models, not in the implementation of technology solutions. Additionally, the role requires a leader capable of taking charge of complex projects or programmes. You will need to set direction, establish the approach, and lead other design analysts in managing planning, timeframes, and milestones. Strong leadership and the ability to direct and guide teams within a programme or project space are essential.

Key requirements:

Business Operating Model Development: Experience in developing business operating models and delivering change using formal methodologies.
Quantitative and Qualitative Analysis: Proven ability to conduct detailed analyses, define problems, and design solutions impacting business models.
Narrative Development: Ability to translate complex problems into simple, compelling narratives to achieve broad business consensus.
Strategic Thinking: Experience applying wider strategic and socio-economic factors to business problems.
Stakeholder Management: Strong capability to manage senior stakeholders and collaborate across multidisciplinary teams.
Problem-Solving Skills: Innovative and solutions-oriented approach to complex challenges.
Leadership and Team Support: Experience managing junior staff and helping them navigate conflicting requirements and priorities.
