Assist staff and patients attending for CT, MRI and Ultrasound examinations. To provide a high quality, efficient and effective Radiology services to the local population. Assist Clinical staff in moving and handling of patients to ensure a safe environment. Provide reassurance to patients by way of clear explanation as to the nature of an examination. Prepare the examination rooms for different types of examination, ensuring rooms are kept clean and tidy and stocked with supplies. Administrative and clerical duties include, answering the telephone, booking appointments, photocopying and assisting the reception staff if required. Assist Medical staff with special procedures after adequate training. Monitor stock levels for consumables. Ensure clean gowns are available for patients at all times. Work as part of a team to ensure effective communication and delivery of care. Liaise with fellow healthcare workers and referring clinicians to provide a high quality service to patients. Observe Divisional policies in respect of patient care, Health and Safety and Radiation Protection. 12. Act as a chaperone if required for the patients and clinicians benefit. Duties will depend on workload, patient and clinical requirements. The radiographic assistant will work closely as part of the multidisciplinary team in Imaging with other disciplines including medical, nursing and AHPs with regard to diagnostic imaging. To assist with patient care, hoisting, changing, moving and administration of patients within the CDC, and continue that care where necessary throughout the imaging process. To assist healthcare professionals in performing imaging procedures in designated areas of the Department eg. room preparation, preparation of contrast media and general patient care. To be familiar with all routine procedures within area (CT, MRI and Ultrasound) and provide support for a defined range of specialist procedures. Patient monitoring so as to facilitate individualised patient care and smooth running of the service. To support infection control measures at the CDC, eg. assist with preparation of rooms and cleaning up afterwards To be responsible for the general cleaning and assist in quality assurance programmes for associated equipment. To be responsible for stock control in area and storage management of contrast agents and routine deliveries. To assist in the training of new non-radiographic staff, enabling them to become fully conversant with the duties applicable to them. To be familiar with, and comply with, the Health & Safety, Ionising Radiation and COSHH policies as outlined by the Trust or department. To ensure that all clinical and other information records are fully and accurately completed, including the radiology computer system and hospital information system. To follow policies and protocols as defined by the local work area, and the CDC. To ensure appropriate tidiness and efficiency is maintained in the work areas and assist other areas as necessary. To be responsible for the care and comfort of the patient whilst they are at the CDC and respecting their privacy, dignity and religious and cultural beliefs. To undertake cannulation and/or phlebotomy as required. To report all potential and actual faults and hazards. To rotate through designated areas of the CDC and be responsible to qualified practitioners (radiographers/sonographers) and consultant radiologists for their actions.
