Summary
At NGH, we specialise in providing supported accommodation for care leavers aged 16-21. Operating under the Supported Accommodation Regulations 2023, we deliver tailored support to help young people develop the skills and confidence they need to transition to independence.
Young care leavers are some of the most vulnerable individuals in society, often facing challenges such as inadequate housing, poor health, and limited access to education or employment. At NGH, we believe that every care leaver deserves a chance to thrive. Through our structured programmes and community engagement, we aim to create a safe, supportive environment for them to succeed.
The Role: Business Manager
As Business Manager, you will play a vital role in overseeing NGH’s operations, ensuring compliance with key legislation, and delivering high-quality support to care leavers. This is a hands-on leadership role, where your ability to plan, organise, and manage a team will be essential.
Key Responsibilities
• Regulatory Compliance: Operate within the Supported Accommodation Regulations 2023, Housing Benefit Regulations, and the Housing Act, ensuring services meet all legal and quality standards.
• Team Scheduling: Develop and manage schedules for key work sessions, ensuring the team is organised, effective, and aligned with organisational priorities.
• Planning and Organisation: Coordinate service delivery, overseeing day-to-day operations and planning for long-term goals.
• Staff Leadership: Lead, support, and develop a skilled team, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous learning.
• Legislative Knowledge: Stay informed about relevant legislation and policies, ensuring the organisation remains compliant and up-to-date.
• Stakeholder Collaboration: Build strong relationships with local authorities, landlords, and other partners to enhance service delivery and outcomes for care leavers.
About You
We’re seeking a dynamic individual with the ability to balance operational efficiency, compliance, and leadership. You’ll need a strong capacity to learn about complex legislation and apply this knowledge effectively within the organisation.
Essential Skills and Experience
• Proven experience in business, operations, or project management.
• Strong organisational and planning skills, with the ability to manage schedules and workflows across teams.
• Capacity to understand and apply housing-related legislation, including Supported Accommodation Regulations, Housing Benefit Regulations, and the Housing Act.
• Excellent leadership and communication skills, with a track record of motivating and managing teams.
• Proficient in identifying and implementing process improvements.
Desirable Skills
• Experience in housing, social care, or supported accommodation sectors.
• Knowledge of challenges faced by care leavers and strategies to support them.
• Familiarity with managing compliance within a regulated environment.
