Summary
The Theatre Support Worker plays a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of surgical procedures by being a member of a theatre team, providing support and assistance to professionally qualified staff and other team members. Responsibilities will include participating in patient care, equipment care, infection control, ancillary and clerical duties.
• Preparing the Theatre: Setting up surgical instruments and equipment, ensuring everything is ready for the surgery.
• Patient Care: Moving patients on trolleys and preparing patients for anaesthesia.
• Stock Management: Making sure the department has all the necessary supplies and managing stock levels.
• Support During Surgery: Assisting the surgical team during procedures by providing the necessary instruments and equipment.
• Post-Surgery Duties: Moving patients on trolleys to the ward, cleaning and tidying theatre areas after surgery, disposing of waste, and ensuring a sterile environment.
• Administrative Tasks: Checking patients into theatre reception, receiving handovers from ward staff, and preparing patient records.
