Summary

An exciting new opportunity has arisen within the School of Art and Design for a part-time Digital Fabrication Learning Assistant. This role will support our students with technical and practical activities and maintain our advanced digital workshop space.

The School of Art & Design has over 600 students across various creative industry disciplines. As a growing sector, it is crucial that our students' knowledge and skills reflect the ever-changing demands of the industry, including digital fabrication.

We are looking for a highly motivated individual with good knowledge of digital fabrication technologies, including CNC machining, 3D printing (FDM & SLA), and laser cutting. Occasionally, assistance may also be needed for broader art and design tasks. This part-time position requires working 3 days per week, with flexibility on the specific days.

Your responsibilities will include setting up and preparing equipment, ensuring all equipment and stock are well-maintained and meet the needs of both students and the school. Experience with operating and maintaining CNC machines, 3D printers, and laser cutters is essential. Familiarity with related software and digital technologies is also required.

You will assist students with their practical work, sharing your experience to help them develop employability skills relevant to their career goals.

The successful candidate will join a dedicated team within a large department where maintaining high levels of performance is expected.

This is a part time role working 22.2 hours per week (0.6fte) at our Watford Campus.
